Requirements

Open to artists 18 years or older residing in the United States. Work must be original, not copied from other art or made from a kit, and must not have been previously shown at Fine Line. All media are accepted; wall art may be no more than 48 inches wide. Submission limit: one application, with up to three pieces and one image per piece; submit 1–3 images of the actual work to be exhibited. Audio and video submissions are not accepted. All applicants must submit an artist statement limited to 1,000 characters. All pieces must be for sale. Entry fee: $35. Apply through CaFÉ by November 2, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. MST, as stated on the detailed call; the EntryThingy summary instead displays 12:00 AM PST on November 2. Jury selections are based on creativity, quality of artistry, and originality as represented in submitted images. Notification is due via CaFÉ email on or before November 14, 2026; contact gallery@fineline.org or 630-584-9443 if no email arrives by the end of that day. Accepted artists receive a contract, shipping information, and other forms by email. Delivery and check-in are December 12, 2026, with hand delivery from 10 am–5 pm. Artists pay for shipping both ways, must include a return shipping label, and must insure work during transit. Artists must supply any unusual display equipment. Artwork cannot hang from the ceiling or be affixed to walls with nails or screws; the gallery uses the Walker Display system. Hanging work must have wire and screw eyes, with no saw-tooth hangers or clip frames. Describe special hanging requirements in the piece description. Fine Line handles installation, the opening reception, sales, and sales tax; artists need not be present during the show. A 30% sales commission applies, and artists receive a check for sales after the show ends. Images and information about accepted pieces will appear on the Fine Line website and may be used in media and press releases. Fine Line provides insurance from receipt of work until the show's end, valued at 70% of the sale price, and 24/7 video monitoring. $800 in prizes will be awarded; the judge is to be determined. The opening reception is December 17, 2026, from 6–8 pm. Public hours are Monday–Saturday, 10 am–5 pm, except the gallery is closed December 20, 2026–January 3, 2027. Pick up work February 13, 2027, from 10 am–5 pm. Unsold shipped work will be returned February 16–18, 2027.
