Hosted by Museum of Glass

Tacoma, WA

AFT Curated Open to all media

The opportunity

Museum of Glass invites artists from all artistic mediums to explore new ideas and techniques or develop a current series during a residency of up to five days in its Hot Shop in Tacoma. Selected artists receive exclusive use of the Hot Shop, assistance from the Museum's Hot Shop Team, and basic coldworking support while working in public view. Applications are selected to support a wide variety of project scopes.

Requirements

Residencies are open to artists from all artistic mediums. Application materials listed are application forms, CV, artwork/portfolio, and artist statement. Artists work up to five days in the Museum Hot Shop, in full view of visitors during public opening hours, Wednesday–Sunday, 10am–5pm. The residency provides exclusive use of the Hot Shop, support from up to three Hot Shop Team members, and two 8-hour days of basic coldworking. Artists may present a public lecture on Sunday, 1–2pm. Artists retain ownership of work created during the residency. Artists may donate up to two works: one piece made during the residency for the Museum's collection, selected in collaboration with Museum staff, and one piece for Museum fundraising. Artists are responsible for travel to and from Museum of Glass, accommodations, color, and special order materials. Artists must initiate packing, insurance, and shipping arrangements for artwork prior to the residency. No application, participation, or additional fees are stated.
