About this call

Artistic growth, discovery, and transformation through paired “Then” and “Now” works.

Requirements

Open to APBC members and non-members working in all visual art media; the page labels location eligibility as Local without specifying geographic boundaries. Artists at every career stage are encouraged to apply; neither 20 years of art practice nor 20 years of APBC membership is required. Submit one recent original artwork (“Now”) and an image of one earlier original artwork (“Then”), considered together as one submission. Exactly two images are required; audio and video are not accepted. Include separate images and complete information for each artwork, the approximate creation year of each, and a statement of no more than 150 words explaining their relationship and the artist’s evolution. Works may differ in subject, style, medium, or technique. Eligible media include painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, fiber, sculpture, ceramics, and other three-dimensional work. All work must be original and created by the submitting artist; explicit sexual work and work created with artificial intelligence are not accepted. The recent work must measure no more than 36 inches on its longest side, including its frame, and be professionally presented and ready for installation. The earlier work must be supplied as a high-resolution, printable JPG and will be printed on 8 x 10 paper for display near the recent work. Two-dimensional artwork must be securely wired; sawtooth hangers are not accepted. Notify the organizer if three-dimensional work requires a pedestal. Both pieces must be available for the exhibition duration, and artwork must remain displayed throughout. The APBC Exhibition Committee reviews artistic quality, presentation, and the relationship between the works, accepting or declining the pair together. Accepted artist statements will be displayed. Entry fees are $30 for APBC members and $40 for non-members. Optional membership costs are $50/year for APBC Membership, $100/year for VIP Membership, or a one-time $1,000 for Lifetime Membership; join or renew before entering to update membership status. All work must be for sale. APBC members receive 75% of gross sales; non-members receive 65%. Submitted prices cannot be changed. Cash awards are $150 for First Place, $100 for Second Place, and $50 for Third Place. Acceptance notifications are November 30, 2026. Artwork delivery is listed as December 3, 32026, 3–6 PM; the printed delivery year is unclear. Opening reception is December 5, 2026, 5–7 PM. Artwork pickup is December 30, 2026, after 6 PM.
