The Raia Project Prize

A $50,000 cash prize for emerging artists currently living in New York City without major gallery representation. The prize covers six months of living and working expenses so the artist can focus on making work. Artists working in any visual medium may apply; the project seeks a body of work with a clear voice rather than a résumé.

Applicants must be emerging artists currently living in New York City, working in any visual medium, and without major gallery representation. Submit up to 15 images of recent work, a few words about yourself and the work, one piece to discuss in depth, and a plain-language answer explaining how you would use six months in which money was not the problem. The application-materials section also lists application forms, artwork/portfolio, artist statement, and CV. Listed artistic fields are design, digital, drawing, fashion, film, installation, interdisciplinary, painting, photography, printmaking, public art, sculpture, textiles, video, visual arts, and writing. The cash prize is $50,000 to cover six months of living and working expenses in New York City. There are no application, participation, or additional fees.
