The opportunity

A one-week micro-residency in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, offering artists space for focused work, reflection, and rest. The Spring 2027 program offers two sessions, March 12–19 and March 20–27, with up to five artists per session and ten total. Residents receive a private guest room and bathroom and access to a shared lounge. Artists are encouraged to engage with the region’s landscape, history, culture, and residents.

Requirements

Open to artists based anywhere in the world and at any career stage; teams may apply. Each residency lasts one week: March 12–19, 2027, or March 20–27, 2027. Applications open October 1, 2026, and are due December 20, 2026; the application fee is $15 USD. Standard queen rooms cost $450 USD per week for a single resident. The Jr Suite costs $550 USD per week and is best suited to two artists attending together and sharing a room. Taxes and a credit-card processing fee apply to all residency fees. Artist stipends, travel/material stipends, and grant/scholarship support are listed as $0 USD. No separate studio space is available during the Winter/Spring Micro-Residency; the guest room is the primary workspace, so the session is best suited to quiet, compact projects unlikely to damage the space. A four-foot folding table and chair can be provided. Ideal residents include artists making small-scale 2D work such as drawing and collage, textile/fiber artists and fashion designers, and writers, composers, photographers, graphic designers, scholars, and artists working primarily on a computer or off-site. Listed disciplines include Book Arts, Computing, Costume/Fashion Design, Criticism, Digital Media, Documentary, Drawing, Electronic Arts, Fiction, Film, History, Illustration, Industrial Design, Journalism, Mixed Media, Moving Image, Music, Nonfiction, Painting, Paper Arts, Philosophy, Photography, Poetry, Printmaking, Screenwriting, Sculpture, Textile & Fiber Arts/Weaving, Visual Arts, and Writing. Pets are not allowed. Housing is listed as inaccessible; no meals are provided. An artist talk or presentation is listed among additional expectations/opportunities. Engagement with the local landscape, history, culture, and residents is encouraged, not required.
