The opportunity

The 47th cycle of The Bronx Museum’s AIM Fellowship selects 14 rising NYC-based artists through a competitive open call for a nine-month professional-development practicum. Faculty cover finance, law, media management, writing, and other subjects supporting an artist’s career. The 2027 program runs February–June and September–December, with a July–August summer break. Fellows meet Tuesdays from 6–9 PM at The Bronx Museum and collaboratively organize the concluding AIM Convening. AIM is not a studio program; the museum also highlights completed Fellows’ artwork through a dedicated biennial exhibition and illustrated catalogue.

Requirements

Applicants must be at least 21, be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and reside in NYC both at application and throughout the program. Applicants must have 2–10 years of actively creating and presenting new and original visual-art work and must not yet be widely recognized in their field, the media, or by the public at large. Apply individually; partnerships, collectives, and other groups are not accepted. Applicants cannot be enrolled concurrently in a degree-granting program in any discipline or another professional-development program. Current Bronx Museum employees and immediate family members or employees of Bronx Museum board members are ineligible. Commercial gallery representation, either inside or outside the U.S., is prohibited. Application materials listed are application forms, artwork/portfolio, CV, and artist statement. Fellows meet Tuesdays, 6–9 PM, at The Bronx Museum during February–June and September–December 2027, with a July–August break, and collaboratively organize the concluding AIM Convening. There are no application, participation, or additional fees.
