The opportunity

Juried exhibition at State of the Art Gallery in Ithaca, New York, running December 3, 2026–January 2, 2027. Accepted artwork will also be available on the gallery website. The call accepts all 2D and 3D media except photography, with selections based on uploaded digital images. Up to $1,000 will be awarded at the prize judge's discretion from work hanging in the gallery. The gallery handles sales and charges a 30% commission.

Requirements

Applicants must be the originating artists of original work never previously exhibited at this gallery. Current State of the Art members and their family members are ineligible. All 2D and 3D media except photography are accepted, including lithography, etching, screen print, relief prints, art made using a computer as a canvas with digital brushes, and original digitally manipulated art. Generative-AI work and prints reproducing original artwork are not accepted. The gallery may request additional information about media and process before or after acceptance. Use the Description field for process and the Material field for materials. Submit only one entry per artist, containing 1–3 works. The non-refundable $35 fee covers up to three pieces, must be paid through PayPal before consideration, and does not guarantee acceptance; a PayPal account is not required. Artwork may not exceed 48 inches in width; artists must assist with installation and removal of pieces heavier than 50 lb. Accepted work must be hand-delivered and retrieved by the artist or a designated person during the gallery's specified times. Profiles must include name, address, phone number and email; a website is optional. Optional detail images: up to two additional images for 2D work or up to three for 3D work; add 'detail' to the filename where appropriate. All image files must have unique titles; number otherwise duplicate titles. Accepted file type is JPG. The submission interface lists a 50MB maximum per image, but the detailed instructions require files between 750 kb and 5 mb, at least 1200 px wide. Entry information cannot be changed after submission. Permission for the gallery to use images of accepted work for publicity, education and reference is assumed upon submission. The gallery handles sales, including sales tax, and retains a 30% commission. Up to $1,000 will be awarded at the discretion of the prize judge, who will select from work hanging in the gallery. The November 1 deadline has conflicting displayed times: 11:59 PM in the calendar and 11 pm in the narrative. The required linked full prospectus is labeled 2025 and contains that edition's exhibition and delivery calendar; confirm the applicable 2026 delivery and retrieval schedule rather than relying on those older dates.
