The opportunity

A four-week interdisciplinary residency for a five-artist cohort of early-career artists living in Minnesota or one of New York City's five boroughs. Residents receive focused creative time at Tower View in Red Wing, Minnesota, with a $625/week artist stipend, documentation support, art-making resources, lodging and studio space, a travel honorarium, groceries, and chef-prepared communal dinners. The program supports generating new work and exchange across disciplines.

Requirements

Applicants must be legal residents of Minnesota or one of New York City's five boroughs; must not be enrolled in any degree-granting program from application through the residency period; must self-identify as early-career artists with 2–10 years of generative experience in their field; and must have an artistic practice centered on generating and creating entirely new work. Artists of any discipline may apply, including visual artists, writers, composers, choreographers, multidisciplinary artists, musicians, performance artists, scholars, and translators. Selected artists must commit to arriving September 2 and departing September 29, 2027; September is the only month offered. Apply online through the Anderson Center's Submittable portal by noon CST on January 12, 2027. There is no fee to apply or participate. Selected residents receive a $625/week artist stipend and a travel honorarium, plus documentation support, art-making resources, lodging, workspace, groceries, and communal dinners. Visual artists receive a 15' x 26' studio and must supply their own materials. Residents prepare their own breakfasts, lunches, and weekend meals; chef-prepared dinners are provided Monday through Friday. Residents must participate in at least one hour of community engagement, customized with staff and the Red Wing community. Finalists undergo a phone interview following a second round of jury review; selected residents, wait-list, and runners-up will be notified by March 2, 2027.
