SELF

An online juried photography exhibition from Decagon Gallery seeking emotionally candid self-portraits engaging with subjects such as identity, aging, illness, grief, joy, gender, memory, solitude, family, transformation, and the body. Selected photographs will appear in a curated online exhibition and professionally designed catalog. Conditional awards are $500 for first place, $250 for second, $150 for third, and $50 for each of two honorable mentions, totaling $1,000; a Human Presence Award provides free entry to a future exhibition.

Self-portraits that go beyond likeness and reflect honest, emotionally consequential self-observation.

Open to photographers worldwide who are age 18 or older. All photographic processes and styles are welcome. Entries may be staged or unstaged, constructed or straightforward, and submitted as single images or series. Applicants may submit up to 10 images. AI-assisted editing is permitted, but substantially AI-created work is not accepted. The tiered entry fee is $25 for up to four photographs plus $5 for each additional photograph. First place receives $500, second place $250, third place $150, and two honorable mentions receive $50 each; the Human Presence Award grants free entry to a future exhibition.
