Sculpture Trail Baytown 2027
Hosted by Arts, Culture, and Entertainment (ACE) District
Baytown, TX
The opportunity
A juried, year-round exhibition of up to twenty original outdoor sculptures in historic Downtown Baytown, Texas. The 2027 call is open to professional and amateur sculptors of all backgrounds. Selected sculptors receive a $1,500 honorarium per sculpture chosen for the 12-month exhibition, plus two complimentary hotel nights for the reception. People's Choice and Best of Show awards each offer $1,000. The page includes older terms referring to the 2026 exhibition and conflicting sales commission rates.
Requirements
Professional and amateur sculptors of all backgrounds may submit up to five original outdoor sculptures. Entries one and two cost $25 each; entries three through five cost $18 each. Artists must register with ArtCall.org before submitting and thoroughly read the Prospectus to ensure their work meets its minimum parameters. Submitting signifies acceptance of the Terms & Conditions. The jury evaluates artistic merit, creativity, durability, and public safety outdoors; decisions will be announced no later than November 22, 2026. Selected sculptures remain artist-owned and are loaned for one year. Each selected sculpture earns a $1,500 honorarium. Patrons may lease sculptures for an additional year. The main call states a 30% sales commission and a 25% lease commission, while the embedded Terms & Conditions state a 25% sales and lease commission. Those terms also refer to the 2026 call and an April 2026–March 2027 exhibition term, rather than the 2027 call; current dates and applicable commission terms need clarification. The embedded terms require family-friendly work and prohibit entries identical to sculptures installed or scheduled for installation in similar public-art programs within 200 miles of Baytown; an already-installed sculpture in that circumstance is ineligible for awards. Artists must deliver selected work on time and in like-new condition, provide requested information promptly, and pay all delivery or shipping expenses. The program provides liability and comprehensive insurance, excluding windstorm damage. Artists accept responsibility for sculpture condition upon its return, agree to indemnification terms, and grant a license for photographic reproductions in brochures, publicity, websites, social media, and promotional materials. Later sales attributable to Sculpture Trail visibility owe the same sales commission; commissions for different sculptures resulting from that visibility owe 10%. People's Choice and Best of Show each award $1,000 to the selected winner. Each exhibition sculptor receives two complimentary hotel nights for the reception.
