The opportunity
A juried outdoor art and fine craft market at Rousakis Riverfront Plaza in Savannah over Labor Day weekend, September 3–6, 2027. Artists, makers and specialty vendors exhibit and sell work along the riverfront. Eligible categories include mixed media, ceramics, digital art, drawing and printmaking, edibles, fiber, glass, handcraft, jewelry, metal, painting, photography, sculpture, and wood and furniture. Emerging artists may apply. Festival hours are Friday and Saturday 10 AM–6 PM and Sunday and Monday 10 AM–4 PM, with exhibitors allowed to stay late.
Requirements
Apply through Zapplication with 5 images, including a required booth shot. Emerging artists are accepted. The application deadline is July 7, 2027; the listing specifies 12:00 AM PDT. Confirmation/purchase deadline: July 28, 2027. Late applications may be accepted at the director's discretion for the waitlist. Social media is considered in jury review.
Application processing fee: $30, non-refundable. Standard booth: $500; double booth: $1,000, limited availability; corner upgrade: $75, limited availability; electricity: $100, limited availability. Booth spaces are approximately 10 feet deep by 11 feet wide or greater, and some areas are not level. Exhibitors supply all displays and keep work within their assigned space.
All merchandise must be original, handmade and created by the exhibitor; buy/sell is prohibited. Reproductions must be identified, original art must occupy at least 50% of the artist's space, browse bins must be minimal and not obstruct patrons, and all displayed artwork must be for sale. Artists may show only jury-approved categories and must personally attend throughout the festival; employees, representatives, commercial agents, dealers and salespeople may not operate their booths. Handcraft applicants must provide a complete description of their items. Prints must be signed and numbered; photocopies are prohibited. Fiber and glass may not be embellishments of manufactured materials; embellished manufactured wood items are prohibited. Photography must originate from the artist's own negatives or digital images and be processed by the artist. Edibles must be handmade, pre-packaged and not prepared onsite. Jewelry may not use commercial molds or casts; the category specifies that at least 50% of organic materials used must be produced by the artist. Prohibited items also include T-shirts and commercial clothing, posters, manufactured toys, commercially manufactured or reproduced resale items, jewelry made from more than 50% manufactured components, and items using commercially available molds or patterns. Food trucks and honey booths cannot be accepted. Food booths must register with Savannah DPH and submit a business license and all required DPH paperwork; begin this process at least six weeks before the event and/or immediately upon acceptance.
A City of Savannah business license costs $85 per calendar year; list the event address as the business address. The source states an exemption for artists living in counties immediately surrounding Chatham County, but also states that ALL selling artists must register, even with a Georgia business license. Confirm the applicable requirement with Savannah's department of revenue. The license may be obtained after acceptance; allow at least two weeks for processing. Artists are responsible for applicable permits, taxes and fees, including collecting and reporting the stated 7% sales tax.
Provide a white-top 10-by-10-foot tent of EZ UP quality or higher; tailgating tents are prohibited. The booth section gives a maximum tent size of 10 by 11 feet. Weight requirements conflict: the rules specify professional weights of 45–50 pounds on every tent leg, while booth/refund sections specify at least 40 pounds per leg. Staking or tying to trees or lamp posts is prohibited. Raw concrete blocks or bricks, water containers, sand in plastic bags, and grid panels or stabilizer bars without weights are not permitted. Arriving without required weights or a white-top tent can cause removal and forfeiture of fees.
Friday September 3 load-in is 6:30–10 AM; booths must open by 10 AM. This is a dolly/wagon-in event with equipment carried across cobblestones. River Street unloading is limited to 30 minutes on the designated side; move vehicles immediately after active unloading. Trailers park offsite at the convention center. A Saturday 8–8:30 AM walk-in exception requires advance previous participation and approval and is dolly-in only. Check in with photo identification and display a parking pass. Artists not checked in or having called the festival emergency number by Friday 8 AM are treated as no-shows, lose their space and receive no refund. Monitor Zapp communications for load-in, load-out and updates.
The festival runs rain or shine with no rain date. Application/administrative fees are non-refundable. Cancellations up to 90 days before the event may have fees applied to the next scheduled show; no refunds are available within 60 days. Credits must be used within one calendar year; artists must reapply, meet deadlines and notify the director to verify credits. The source also states that credits must be applied to the show for which they were given and cannot transfer to another show. Previously credited booth fees and jury-exempt advance reservations are non-refundable. Weather, other stated cancellation causes, removal for rule violations and inadequate tent weights can result in no refunds. A pandemic cancellation/postponement provision offers credit for an upcoming show. AFFPS disclaims responsibility for injury, damage or loss; exhibitors should obtain any insurance they require at their own expense. Credit-card submission constitutes acceptance of the event terms and associated charges.
