Hosted by Hot Works
Sarasota, FL
The opportunity
Juried outdoor fine art show at JD Hamel Park in downtown Sarasota, March 6–7, 2027, with public hours of 10am–5pm each day. Artists exhibit and sell original, personally handmade work. The visual-art categories include clay, digital, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, mixed media, metal, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, watercolor, wood, and other media. Applications are reviewed for originality, technique/execution, and booth presentation. The show accepts emerging artists and states that it has an emerging artist program or grant.
Requirements
Apply electronically through Zapplication by December 1, 2026, with a $35 jury/application fee due with the application. Submit three images of artwork and one booth image showing the display as it will appear at the show, including browse bins if any; image size is 1920x1920 or minimum 300 dpi. An artist statement explaining process, materials, and reproduction process may be included; the checklist also asks applicants to indicate recent awards and honors. Selection is based on originality, technique/execution, and overall booth presentation; jury decisions are final.
Work must be original and handcrafted by the artist present at the show. Buy/sell/import, manufactured items, and selling another person's work are excluded. Noncompliance can result in removal of items or booth closure without refund. Artists must personally staff their booths throughout all opening hours and have government-issued picture ID available at check-in on request. If more than one person contributes to production, disclose each person's contribution in the application. Collaborative artists must submit a joint application and exhibit only genuinely collaborative work to which each contributes substantially; matting and framing do not qualify. Booth sharing is prohibited unless all artists are represented in the juried images. Work must match proportions shown in submitted images. Sophisticated sewn beadwork may be accepted; simply strung purchased beads are individually considered at the organizer's discretion.
Prints and reproductions must be clearly labeled and comprise no more than 30% of displayed work. Photography, digital, and giclée prints must be signed and numbered editions of 250 or fewer on archival-quality materials. Digital prints must originate from the artist's own digital file. Bring enough work to exhibit and sell for the entire show. Leaving or breaking down early bars return the next day or at future Hot Works shows unless proof of an emergency is provided.
Booth fees: 10’ x 10’ $510; 10’ x 15’ $775; 10’ x 20’ $1,020. A corner costs an additional $75; an event-program advertisement costs an additional $75. Booth payment is due 60 days before the show upon acceptance; the listed purchase deadline is January 1, 2027. Optional Light Dome tent rental is $275, or $475 with ProPanels, including setup and teardown. Artists may use compliant personal tents, but outside tent rental companies may not deliver, install, remove, or service tents. Booth assignments are at the organizer's discretion and not interchangeable; special requests are not guaranteed.
Displays must stay within assigned space with no protrusions, including upward; an awning is allowed only if it does not obstruct emergency vehicles. Booth height must match the application image. Tents require at least 50 pounds of weight on each corner and must be lowered overnight. Ground display of artwork requires approval based on the submitted booth image. Only the show's supplied sign may be hung. Electricity is unavailable. Outdoor-rated generators/inverters require application disclosure of equipment and proposed placement, notice at least two weeks before the show, placement at least 20 feet from tent structures, and no disturbance to others; the organizer may refuse them. A fire extinguisher must be in the booth while equipment is running. Large trailers/trucks needing site access require size notification three weeks before the show.
Move-in is Friday 8:30am–6pm or Saturday 8am–9:30am; general information asks artists to be ready by 9:15am or sooner. Move-out is Sunday 5:05pm–9pm; remove your own trash. Customer complaints must be acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within three business days. Collect and remit Florida sales tax; the stated combined Sarasota County rate is 7.0%.
Cancellations 60 days before the event receive a full refund; cancellations 30–59 days before have fees applied to the next scheduled show. No refunds within 30 days or for booth fees applied from a previously canceled show. No rain dates or refunds for show cancellation due to weather, government action, or any other reason.
