The opportunity

Sadler's Wells Digital Stage will commission three new short Dance on Screen films exploring memory, legacy, responsibility and the future. Each selected project receives a £6,000 commission and production support. Development begins in January 2027, and the films are intended to premiere as part of Dance Digital 2027 in November 2027.

About this call

The Future Remembers: memory, legacy, responsibility and the future

Requirements

Open internationally to dance artists aged 18 or over, including applicants outside the UK. Artists may apply individually, as a group or through a company. Applicants do not need an established filmmaker attached and may propose existing filmmaker or production-team collaborators. Projects must be Dance on Screen films made specifically for film rather than documentation of a stage performance, with a maximum runtime of approximately four minutes. The £6,000 fee is unchanged regardless of collaborator count, and external filmmaking, equipment and other production costs must be covered from the commission. Shortlisted artists are expected to interview in December 2026.
