Re-Issue RFQ City of Gainesville Regional Transit System - Public Art

The City of Gainesville seeks qualifications from professional artists or artist teams to create functional, site-specific public art for the new Eastside Bus Transfer Facility. Potential elements include shade structures, bike racks, benches, decorative fencing, and tree guards. The revised project budget is $48,915. Three or more artists or teams will be pre-qualified to develop proposals; the top three selected for the Request for Proposals phase will each receive a $1,000 honorarium.

Functional public art integrating artistic expression with transit infrastructure, enhancing the pedestrian experience, and reflecting Gainesville's history, character, and values.

Open to professional artists and artist teams with demonstrated experience in site-specific, functional and creative public or private art installations. Submit a letter of interest of no more than 500 words; a current résumé including name, mailing address, phone number, and email; professional credentials, relevant experience, and honors or awards; references for prior public art installations, including contact information and locations where work is currently on public display; and 5–10 digital images of completed outdoor installations. Images should represent the same project and include close-up and distant views demonstrating materials, craftsmanship, height, scale, and context. Selected concepts must meet all applicable safety and durability requirements. Artists must review the revised project description, budget, requirements, and submission guidelines in their entirety before submitting qualifications. Previous applicants must submit a new application to be considered under the re-issued RFQ. The revised project budget is $48,915; the top three artists or artist teams selected to advance to the RFP phase will each receive a $1,000 honorarium.
