The opportunity

PoetryXCollage is a printed journal exploring the intersection of poetry and collage. Artists and writers may submit fully designed page spreads for future volumes. Welcomed work includes found and blackout poetry, collage poems, haikus, centos, response collages and poems, word scrambles, concrete poetry, and scatter collage poems. Digital and hybrid collage and work in languages other than English are accepted. Submissions remain open while future volumes are assembled.

About this call

The intersection of poetry and collage

Requirements

Submit 3–5 fully realized page spreads, including a general artist narrative and a short page spread narrative. Contributors must design the complete layout, including font, image placement, and composition. Each spread combines two facing pages into one image, accounting for margins, bleed, and gutter. Use the supplied template or a canvas of 3675 x 2775 pixels at 300 dpi; combine separate collage and poem images into a single file. Submit the spread exactly as intended for printing, saving it as a JPG and removing any template layer or guide marks. Full-bleed images and images crossing the gutter are permitted; anything crossing the gutter will be slightly cut off by the fold into the spine. Spreads must conform to the exact specifications; the linked PoetryXCollage Specs Doc PDF and transparent PNG template provide guidance. Reviewing a copy of the journal and the specifications document is recommended. Digital and hybrid collage are accepted. Work may be in languages other than English, but accompanying texts must be in English; an English translation of poetry in the Page Spread Narrative is suggested.
