Penland Resident Artist Program

Established in the 1960s, Penland’s Resident Artist Program is one of the longest-running artist residencies in the United States. It is an opportunity for professional craft artists to focus in the studio and make a formative leap in their work and career. My time at Penland provided a safe and supportive environment to explore ways to approach a professional existence without a secondary job. I don’t know if I would have had the confidence to take that step without this residency.
