Hosted by Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach
Orange Beach, AL
The opportunity
The 53rd annual Orange Beach Festival of Art is a juried exhibition and sale of fine art at the Coastal Arts Center and Waterfront Park grounds in Orange Beach, Alabama, March 13–14, 2027. The festival offers spaces for 90 fine artists, draws over 15,000 visitors, and includes performing arts, coastal cuisine, a bayfront music stage, and a kids’ art alley. Prizes total $4,550. Emerging artists may apply.
Requirements
Fine arts only; no crafters. Eligible mediums are Clay, Digital Media, Folk Art, Glass, Graphics/Illustration/Pencil, Jewelry, Leather, Metal, Mixed Media, Painting Oil & Acrylic, Painting Watercolor, Paper, Photography, Sculpture, Textile/Fiber, and Wood. Select the actual medium carefully: jewelry using clay and metal remains jewelry, not Mixed Media. One application per artist, not separate applications for different mediums. Submit five photos of your work and one booth photo; applicants without prior show booths must set up and photograph a sample booth. Missing a booth picture automatically disqualifies the application. Booth presentation must be neat and professional. The $40 application fee is non-refundable; first-place winners receive a $40 application coupon code. The top three award winners are automatically invited back but must still apply and pay booth fees. Prizes total $4,550. Only exhibitors selling their own original handmade items are accepted; kits, imports, manufactured or retail merchandise, mass-produced work, buy/sell vendors, crafts, and collaborations of more than three people are excluded. Displaying work not original and handmade by the artist results in removal and forfeiture of booth fees; collaborators must be noted. No 100% AI-created art is allowed. More than 20% AI assistance must be disclosed in the application and labeled on work presented at the show. Accepted artists must attend the entire event, with no early booth closures or departures. Notifications are due by 5 p.m. November 19, 2026. Booth fees are $325, payable only by credit card through ZAPP by January 8, 2027. Limited double booths are available first come, first served upon invitation; no corner booth fee applies, and corner requests are not guaranteed. Tents must be 10 x 10 feet, with at least 12 x 12 feet of space provided. No large tent stakes; bring weights and an outdoor carpet and prepare for inclement weather. No electricity is available. Invited artists must select a check-in time, with Friday March 12 options at noon, 2 p.m., and 4 p.m.; no load-in before noon. Contact the director if loading in after 6 p.m. Saturday March 13 load-in is 6–8:45 a.m., with no vehicles on the grounds after 8:45 a.m.; artists must be fully set up by 9 a.m. No late Saturday setups, regardless of weather; the event is rain or shine. Show hours are March 13, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and March 14, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. City of Orange Beach taxes must be paid on-site before receiving a load-out pass, which also requires 90% booth breakdown; county and state tax forms are provided for payment after the show. Cancellations must be submitted in writing to director Desiree Blackwell at dhodge@orangebeachal.gov. The refund policy states booth fees are refunded less $75 prior to February 3, 2027, and also states no refunds after February 2, 2027.
