Open Call for Artist Residents

Dorland offers a secluded working retreat in California for national and international visual artists, writers, musicians, composers and performing artists. Residents stay in individual cottages with workspace, kitchens and bathrooms, with access to shared arts facilities and extensive natural grounds. The listed residency period is November 1, 2026 through January 31, 2027.

Applications are invited from national and international visual, literary (or other writing), composing and performing artists. Stays depend on requests and availability. The application information states stays of one week to two months, while the separate duration section states one week to six weeks. Residency fees are $450–$675 per week, with discounts for stays of four or more weeks. Availability changes constantly and dates often fill quickly. Completed applications are reviewed in order of receipt; applications may be expedited if needed. Approved candidates receive a contract and deposit request, whose return secures the residency dates. Tuesday Sunset Point Meet-Ups and Friday evening Wine & Bite artwork sharings are optional.
