Hosted by THE Gallery

Tiburon, CA

AFT Curated

The opportunity

A juried group exhibition at THE Gallery inside the Belvedere Tiburon Library celebrating vivid, intense color: electric hues, bold contrasts, glowing palettes, and saturated pigments. Bay Area artists aged 18 and above may submit original two-dimensional painting, illustration, printmaking, photography, textile, and mixed-media work. The exhibition runs January 21–March 3, 2027, with an opening reception January 21 from 6–8pm. All work must be for sale; artists receive 70% of sales and the gallery retains 30%.

About this call

Saturated color as a key element of the work, whether abstract, figurative, or conceptual; vivid color may dominate the palette or appear as a striking focal element or passage.

Requirements

Open to Bay Area artists aged 18 and above. Submit original two-dimensional painting, illustration, printmaking, photography, textile, or mixed-media artworks. Low-relief work is permitted if no more than 5 inches deep measured from the wall as hung. Reproductions in another medium, AI-created art, ceiling-suspended work, and free-standing sculpture are not accepted. Subject matter must be acceptable for a family destination. Submitted images must be the submitting artist's own creation and solely owned by that artist; copyright infringement is prohibited. All submitted work must be for sale, without exceptions. Artists receive 70% of sales; THE Gallery retains 30%, and sales are not guaranteed.

The $35 fee covers up to three works, each entered separately in ArtCall using “Add new Submission.” Entries are digital through ArtCall; create an account or sign in to an existing account. Each entry requires a primary image and may include two additional detail images at no extra charge. Submit JPG/Jpeg images showing the full piece at 72 ppi, with the longest side between 1920 and 4600 pixels and files no larger than 10MB. Cover any signature on the front of the artwork in submitted images for anonymous jurying. Submissions are evaluated on engagement with the theme, technique, overall mastery, creativity, and originality; Exhibition Directors subsequently curate the show.

Provide a short biography and a short artist statement, each no more than 475 characters. Omit your name from the artist statement because it is included in jurying. Enter unframed dimensions as h" x w"; for framed work, provide both unframed and framed sizes. Capitalize the first letters of names, street address, and city; use CA for the state and xxx-xxx-xxxx for the phone number. Update your ArtCall profile photograph before the submission period ends; accepted artists' photographs will appear on the participating-artists web page and in the exhibition album. Keep website and/or Instagram addresses current. Review title, price, dimensions, biography, statement, artist photograph, and other information before November 7, 2026; information cannot be changed after the call closes.

Ready-to-hang dimensions, including the frame, must not exceed 72 inches high by 60 inches wide and must be at least 8 inches high by 10 inches wide or 10 inches high by 8 inches wide. D-rings must be positioned high enough to prevent tipping while keeping the rings and wire concealed above the frame. Two upper D-rings without a connecting wire may work best; select the arrangement that hangs the piece flat. Braided stainless-steel or multi-filament wire is preferred when using wire. Sawtooth hangers are prohibited.

Submissions open October 10, 2026 at 12:01am and close November 7, 2026 at 11:59pm; artist notification is November 23, 2026. Selected artwork must be dropped off January 15, 2027, 11am–1pm (preferred), or January 16, 2027, 9–10:30am (earlier preferred). Pickup is March 5, 2027, 9–10:30am (preferred), or March 6, 2027, 9–10:30am. Attach a label with title, artist name, email, and phone to the lower-right back of selected artwork. Remove wrapping materials and take them away after intake. The gallery decides whether accepted work hangs in the skylight gallery or long gallery. Artwork must remain on view for the entire exhibition.

Images, artist statements, biographies, and ArtCall profile pictures are displayed in a Web Gallery and exhibition album. Accepted artists agree that the Library may use their artwork, in whole or in part, for publicity in print, online, and social media. Sales and sales tax are processed through the Belvedere Tiburon Library Foundation. The library has insurance coverage but strongly recommends that exhibiting artists also carry their own insurance.
