About this call
Holy Moly: Breaking News — Is news breaking? Or is the news broken?
Requirements
Open to local Colorado artists over 18. Original 2D or 3D work only; no videos, reproductions or giclee. Work must be created by the artist or an independent group effort, be for sale, and be well executed, clean, dry and ready to display. Non-refundable fee: $35 for 1–3 entries. The application overview lists a submission limit of 1 and requires 1–3 images; no audio or video submissions.
All 2D work must have a secure hanging wire; no zigzag or triangular hangers or plastic frames. Use simple frames. Unframed paintings on canvas or board must have at least a 1½-inch border. Maximum 2D dimensions are stated as 48 wide × 72 long, including any frame; units are not specified. 3D work must not exceed 50 pounds; artists may need to help install pieces weighing over 25 pounds. Wall-hung 3D work cannot exceed 25 pounds. Pedestal work should have a base no larger than 24 × 24 inches and must be sturdy and stand alone.
Selection is based on quality, adherence to theme, juror judgment and available space. The gallery may disqualify work that fails the guidelines or differs from its submission image. Acceptance notification is December 2, 2026, by email; use an active email and check it regularly, as all communication is by email.
Accepted artists must provide a short statement about their piece and permanently attach their name, contact information, title, medium, size and price to the back. Artists are responsible for delivery and pickup. An artist or representative must deliver work in person to 915 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, CO 80204; shipping is prohibited. The source gives drop-off as Sunday, December 6, 1 a.m.–4 p.m. Work must remain for the entire exhibition. Unsold work must be picked up Sunday, January 31, 1–4 p.m.; the earlier dates list prints the pickup year as 2026, inconsistent with the exhibition ending January 30, 2027. Confirm these scheduling details with the gallery. There is no storage; work not collected in a timely manner will be donated.
The gallery disclaims responsibility for artwork damaged, broken or stolen at the gallery or in transit, states that it has liability insurance, and recommends artists carry their own insurance. The gallery receives 40% of the retail sale price and the artist receives 60%, paid within 40 days after the exhibition ends. For three months, artists must direct sales derived from the exhibition or its promotion through the gallery and forward its agreed commission even when a sale occurs outside the gallery or after the exhibition. The gallery may use submitted artwork images for publicity.
