A juried exhibition at Highfield Hall and Gardens inviting artists to reflect on the American experience during the nation’s semi-quincentennial, including how America is lived, remembered, celebrated, questioned, and reimagined. The exhibition runs March 4–May 30, 2027. Awards include $200 for Best in Show, four $100 judges’ awards, and four honorable mentions; these are conditional awards rather than guaranteed participant compensation.

About this call

The American experience and what is beautiful, remembered, celebrated, questioned, or reimagined about America

Requirements

Artwork must be by a living artist, must not have previously been exhibited at Highfield Hall and Gardens, must be independently created rather than completed under instruction in a class or workshop, and must use the artist’s own photo references. Copying other art, including AI-generated art, is prohibited. The portal permits 1–20 pieces and states a maximum of 20 entries per artist, while the eligibility text says artists may submit any number of original works; only one entry per artist will be accepted and displayed. Submitted images must accurately depict the entered artwork; substitutions are prohibited. Images must be JPEG, at least 1920 pixels on the longest side, no more than 50MB, cropped without matting or frame, and right-side-up. Giclées and similar reproductions of original art are ineligible. Work over 40 inches in either direction including its frame is less likely to be accepted. Two-dimensional work must be suitably framed and wire-ready; specified unsafe hanging methods are prohibited. Normally glazed work over 30 inches must use acrylic glazing, except pastels may use glass. Fees are tiered and nonrefundable: $20 for the first entry and $15 for each additional entry. Accepted work must remain available for the entire exhibition; unavailability results in a two-year ban from HHG juried exhibitions. Accepted work must be dropped off or shipped to Highfield Hall, with shipped work received by February 1, 2027 in suitable packaging with a prepaid return label and HHG entry label. Highfield Hall handles sales, retaining 40% commission while artists receive 60%. Entrants grant permission for photographing and reproducing entries for publicity unless otherwise stated, and acknowledge that Highfield Hall is not responsible for damage, loss, or theft. Awards are $200 Best in Show, four $100 judges’ awards, and four honorable mentions.
