Gallery Exhibition
Full Spectrum - A joyful celebration of the colors from which we create
Hosted by Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists
Denver, CO
The opportunity
A juried exhibition of original, two-dimensional botanical art celebrating color. Each work must accentuate a selected hue: reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues, violets or pinks. National and international artists may apply. The listing identifies Denver, Colorado; specific venues and exhibition dates remain to be determined, and RMSBA is seeking multiple venues. Accepted artworks may be offered for sale.
About this call
Original botanical specimens accentuating reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues, violets or pinks.
Requirements
National and international artists may enter; RMSBA membership is encouraged, not required. Submit up to two original, two-dimensional botanical artworks in any medium except photographs and digital artwork. Work must have been completed no earlier than 2023 and must not have been entered in a previous RMSBA exhibition. Totally black-and-white or grayscale artwork is excluded; such media may be incorporated with color to accentuate the featured hue. White, beige or neutral specimens with accompanying greenery fit the greens category. Maximum framed size is 30 x 30 inches. Artists must commit to their color choices through https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C084FA8A72AA0F5C70-58080763-full; the stated color-commitment deadline is January 1, 2026. Color slots are limited; if a category is full, choose another. Two works may use the same or different colors, but require two registry entries. Colors cannot subsequently be changed, although specimens may change within the chosen category. Contact RMSBA immediately if withdrawing a color commitment. Submissions are accepted September 15, 2025 through November 2, 2026. Nonrefundable entry fees: RMSBA members pay $25 for the first entry plus $10 for each additional entry; ASBA-only members pay $35 plus $10 for each additional entry; nonmembers pay $45 plus $15 for each additional entry. Acceptance is not guaranteed; retain the payment receipt. Enter through OnlineJuriedShows using JPG images at least 1920 pixels on the longest side, at 72 dpi, under 4 MB, in sRGB colorspace. Supply title, unframed dimensions, medium and price. Accepted artists must supply a bio and a brief plant description or their work will not be shown. Jury criteria include botanical accuracy, artistic presentation, technical skill and high-quality images; entries are judged together for a cohesive exhibition. Notifications are due November 20, 2026. Selected work must be framed and ready to hang in a simple, natural-colored wood frame with acrylic glazing, with a white or off-white mat or spacers if unmatted. Use tight hanging wire with D-rings one-fifth of the way down the frame and the wire's center point 1.5 inches below the top; no saw-tooth or clip hangers or projecting screw eyes. Label the back with name, address, phone, email, artwork title, sales status and price. Selected work may be delivered at the January 2027 General Membership Meeting; contact RMSBArtists@gmail.com if unable to deliver in person. Shipping deadlines remain TBD. Work will be transported in RMSBA Fleece Art Sacks; contact RMSBA about other transportation needs. RMSBA may refuse work with inadequate framing, shipment in Styrofoam peanuts or quality substantially different from the submission images. Accepted works must remain available and in the exhibition venues until the official close at all venues. Artists choosing to sell must arrange shipping with the buyer or gallery when necessary and account for possible venue commissions within the standard gallery range. Insurance is the artist's responsibility except while work is exhibited at a venue. Submitted images may be used in print or electronic promotional, educational or interpretive materials before, during and after the exhibition.
