The opportunity
Spark Gallery invites collage submissions for a juried group exhibition in Denver, March 6–30, 2027. Juror Daisy Fodness-McGowan will select works exploring collage's transformative possibilities, welcoming historical and contemporary approaches. First, second, and third prizes are $250, $150, and $100.
About this call
Collage and its transformative power to create beauty, assert meaning, process feelings, tell stories, or explore visual relationships.
Requirements
Open to artists age 18 and older residing in the United States; current Spark Gallery members are ineligible. Work must use collage as its primary element. Digital collage and AI-generated work are not accepted. All work must be original, solely created and copyrighted by the submitting artist, and not previously exhibited at Spark Gallery. One submission is permitted, containing up to two original pieces; submit 1–2 images, with no audio or video. Photographs must be clear, well lit, and without distracting backgrounds; follow CaFÉ's uploading-work-samples formatting guidelines. Work that differs from its application photograph may be refused, and accepted work differing significantly from the submitted image will be disqualified. Artwork must be unframed and no wider than 12 inches. For work taller than 60 inches, email sparkgalleryprograms@gmail.com to confirm accommodation. Installation uses small magnets on the artwork surface with steel thumbtacks/tacks behind it; lightweight-board-mounted work or work too heavy for magnets may use artist-supplied hanging clips. The nonrefundable entry fee is $35 for up to two works, reduced to $20 for full-time students or artists experiencing economic hardship. Notifications are due by December 21, 2026; shipped work must arrive by February 16, 2027. Artists pay all shipping costs, provide shipping containers, and include a prepaid return shipping label. Artists set their own prices; work need not be for sale. Spark Gallery retains 20% commission on all sales. The juror selects first ($250), second ($150), and third ($100) prize winners. Spark Gallery is not responsible for loss or damage, though reasonable care will be taken. Accepted artists grant the gallery permission to photograph and reproduce accepted works for promotional purposes.
