About this call
Enchanted Winter: the beauty, wonder, warmth, and imagination of wintertime, interpreted broadly; artwork need not be specifically Christmas-themed.
Requirements
Open to members and non-members and stated to be open to all artists; Arizona artists are encouraged, not required. Eligible media include painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, ceramics, fiber arts, jewelry, mixed media, glass, wood, digital art, etchings, mosaics, and tile work. Submissions must be original and created solely by the artist, in whole or in part, without infringing copyright. The eligibility paragraph says submissions must align with the theme 'Reflections', conflicting with the Enchanted Winter title and thematic instructions; applicants should confirm this discrepancy with the Guild. Deadline statements also conflict: the listing gives October 17, 2026 at 12:00 AM PDT; the exhibition heading says October 18, 2026; and the application instructions say 9 PM on October 17, 2026 without a timezone. Confirm the operative deadline before applying.
Apply online through ArtCall.org. Up to five submissions per artist. Members pay $30 for the first three submissions and $10 for each additional submission; non-members pay $45 for the first three and $12 for each additional submission. Payment is by credit card only. Members must volunteer at least eight hours during the exhibition or pay a $40 buyout fee at the Guild. No refunds are given for paid submissions that are not used. Additional submissions can be purchased without paying the initial entry fee again.
All submissions are juried for acceptance into the gallery show and final judging. Work accepted into previous 2025 Mountain Artists Guild shows is ineligible. Prints of original paintings, giclees, and printed merchandise such as tote bags, pouches, and towels must not be entered. Paintings or photographs of nudes and work inappropriate for family viewing are not accepted. Jewelry must be 100% handcrafted. All artwork must be for sale; the Guild's sales commission is 25% for members and 40% for non-members.
For paintings and photographs, the stated minimum canvas or frame size is 154 inches, illustrated by 14 × 11 inches; maximum canvas or paper size is 1,728 square inches, illustrated by 36 × 48 inches, with 48 inches on the longest side including the frame. Heavy sculptures and other heavy three-dimensional objects must be easily movable by members and standalone, not wall-mounted. Paintings and photographs may be framed or unframed if on gallery-wrapped canvas at least one inch thick or on metal; canvas less than one inch thick must be framed. Artists must abide by the linked Gallery Standards.
Images must accurately represent the work and have the appropriate orientation. Images should show no background or frame; artwork under glass should show no reflections. Multiple images may show different sides or details of one work, but different artworks must not be combined within an individual entry. Photograph three-dimensional objects and jewelry against a white or black non-textured background. Images should be JPG, PNG, or PDF, with a maximum upload size of 4 MB. The Guild may reject improperly photographed work.
Gallery intake is Monday, October 26, 2026. Accepted artists receive an email link to book an appointment. Artwork must be delivered in person; shipping for intake is prohibited. Members unable to deliver at intake must arrange this with the Gallery Manager. The awards ceremony and reception are November 27, 2026, from 5 PM to 7:30 PM. Accepted entries remain in the Web Gallery for three months after awards are announced. Artists are responsible for packaging and shipping works sold online and must notify the Guild of sales to keep the Web Gallery current. Artists must agree to the ArtCall.org competition terms and conditions.
