December Remembered

An in-person Salmagundi Club holiday exhibition inviting illustrators to depict a memory from any holiday tradition in the medium best suited to the image. The exhibition runs December 8–31, 2026, in the Hartley and Bridge Galleries in New York City. Artists receive 70% of any artwork sales. All submissions are also entered in the Salmagundi Card contest, whose winning images will be reproduced as note cards benefiting the Artist-In-Need Fund.

Holiday memories and traditions

Open to Salmagundi members and non-members. All illustration media are accepted, but sculpture is ineligible. Artists may submit two works; each work, including its frame, may not exceed 18 inches and must not have been previously shown at Salmagundi. Submission images must accurately represent completed work. Required image files are high-quality JPEG/JPG in sRGB, cropped to show only the artwork, at least 2400 pixels on the longest edge, and no larger than 30 MB. Accepted works must be professionally framed with hanging wire or otherwise professionally mounted for gallery display, remain for the full exhibition, and be delivered in person or shipped to the clubhouse. Shipped work must use a reusable art-shipping box and include a prepaid return label. Works must be removed immediately after the exhibition; uncollected work incurs a $50 monthly fee after 30 days and is considered abandoned after 180 days. The club retains 30% of sales and the artist receives 70%. Images of accepted work may be used by the club for publicity, advertising, or other purposes. Entry requires payment by credit or debit card, but the captured page does not state the fee amount; fees are nonrefundable. Entries must be complete and paid by the deadline. All submissions enter the Salmagundi Card contest, with winning entries reproduced as note cards benefiting the Artist-In-Need Fund.
