Requirements
Open to new media artists applying in one or more of seven submission categories: installations; audio experiences; virtual, augmented, or mixed-reality environments; robotics, kinetic, or electro-mechanical objects and installations; multimedia performance; fabrication, 2D/3D printing, and wearables; and experimental single-channel video, documentary, and animation. Works in progress are eligible when accompanied by samples showing a strong existing body of work. Artists using AI must disclose in the Work Statement whether and how it was used. Each category requires a separate form and separate fee. The source reports conflicting tiered fees—either $30 for one submission and $25 each for multiple submissions, or $25 for one and $20 each for multiple—and advises applicants to verify the current fee. A limited number of financial-hardship scholarships cover one submission fee on a first-come, first-served basis. Documentation must be viewable online. Uploaded high-resolution photographs and video stills must be 2MB–4MB JPG files labeled with the artwork title and artist name(s). Single-channel videos must be no longer than 12 minutes; multi-channel video installations must be submitted in the Installations category. Stand-alone Quest 2 or Quest 3 VR works are preferred, though tethered works are considered.
