Each artist receives approximately 10’H × 10’W of wall space, not necessarily contiguous, or equivalent floor space for freestanding sculpture. Eligible original work includes painting, pastels, drawings, prints, mixed media, photography, and sculpture in any material. The gallery takes no commission on sales.

About this call

A small body of work exploring a current or longstanding artistic interest.

Requirements

Open to U.S. resident artists age 18 or older. Artists currently represented by First Street Gallery and exhibitors in SELECTS 2025 or SELECTS 2026 are ineligible. Eligible works are ORIGINAL oils, acrylics, watercolors, gouache, pastels, drawings, prints, mixed media, photography, and sculpture in any material.

Submit five works electronically through the Entry Form; the $55 entry fee is non-refundable. All submitted works must be available for exhibition. Judging is entirely from digital images. JPEG files only (.jpg or .jpeg), maximum 5 MB each; the longest edge should be at least 1,000 pixels. The gallery cannot correct or resize images. Complete the entire form; failure to follow instructions may nullify an entry. A brief paragraph about the body of work, website link, and Instagram handle are optional. Label 2D images LAST NAME_FIRST NAME_Work # in entry-form order. Sculptors must submit two views of each work, installation and detail or second view, at no extra cost; append a or b to the work number. Mislabeled files or files lacking the artist’s name may not be viewed. Confirm files meet technical requirements and open correctly.

For each work provide 2D/3D type, title, specific medium, dimensions in inches with height before width, creation year, and price in US dollars or N.F.S.; no P.O.R. For 3D work include height × width × depth and weight in pounds. The gallery will not correct dimension errors. Prepare materials and save or print the prospectus before starting the form; interruption, leaving the form, opening another tab, or closing the browser can delete entered data.

2D work must be wired and ready to hang; use D-rings for heavy works. Works on paper need not be framed under glass or Plexiglass but require proper hanging hardware. Wall-hung 2D/3D work has a 30 lb maximum and requires securely attached wire or other hanging fixtures. Nothing may hang from ceilings or pipes; works requiring museum gel, command strips, or other installation adhesives are not accepted. Floor or pedestal sculpture also has a 30 lb maximum. Sculptors are urged to supply pedestals; bring them with the sculpture unless arrangements have been made to use the gallery’s limited supply.

Accepted work may be refused if it differs from its submitted image. Substitutions or additional works are considered case by case; additional work requires juror approval. The number exhibited depends on size relative to allotted space. All work must remain for the exhibition’s duration. Work not for sale must be marked N.F.S.; no P.O.R. sales. The gallery takes no sales commission.

Shipped artwork must arrive December 16, 17, or 18, 2026. Hand delivery is accepted only December 30, 2026, noon–5 pm, or January 2, 2027, noon–5 pm. Do not submit fragile/unprotected work requiring a professional preparator. The gallery cannot repair damaged arrivals and may not exhibit them. Do not ship via USPS. Include a prepaid computer-generated FedEx or UPS return label inside the box, addressed from the gallery to yourself or a third-party recipient; do not attach it outside or send stamps.

Hand-delivered work must be collected January 30, 2027, 4–6 pm, or February 3, 2027, noon–5 pm. Arrange alternative pickup with the gallery before the show closes. Shipped work will be returned by February 5, 2027. Uncollected work incurs $5 daily storage after the pickup date; the gallery accepts no responsibility and may dispose of it after 30 days.

Artists may insure their own pieces. First Street Gallery is not responsible for loss or damage on the premises or in transit. If circumstances beyond the gallery’s control prevent the physical exhibition, it will be held online. Payment of the entry fee and acceptance of artwork constitute agreement to the prospectus terms.
