Bettie Awards 2027

The Delaplaine Arts Center’s annual Bettie Awards invite Frederick County high-school artists to submit one work for a juried award and exhibition. At least ten winners are selected; one receives the $1,000 grand prize, other winners receive $100, and a visitor-selected People’s Choice winner receives $250.

Applicants must live in or attend school in Frederick County, Maryland, and be in grades 9–12 at a public, private, or home school. Each applicant may submit one work measuring no more than five feet in any direction; all media are eligible, including photography, painting, printmaking, ceramics, drawing, and sculpture. Presentation is a judging criterion, and poorly installation-prepared work will not receive the grand prize. Selected work must be delivered February 22–28, 2027. The grand prize is $1,000, every other winner receives $100, and the visitor-selected People’s Choice Award is $250. The grand-prize winner will be featured in Delaplaine Arts magazine, and other winners’ work may be published in local print and online media.
