ArtScape 18 Call for Art

ShenArts seeks original artwork from Shenandoah Valley artists for ArtScape, an annual public-art program displaying reproductions of selected works on banners in Downtown Winchester. Selected original works will also appear in a corresponding gallery exhibition.

Applicants must live in the Shenandoah Valley, although they need not live in Winchester, and may be of any age or experience level. Artists may submit up to three original works; posthumous submissions are prohibited. Work previously exhibited at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley or in the Barns of Rose Hill Members Show should not be submitted. Square or vertical artwork is preferred for the banner format, and the banner designer may crop work or add a complementary background. Artists whose medium is absent from the form must select “Other” and contact ShenArts before submitting. Accepted exhibition pieces must be the originals represented in the submitted images; reproductions of traditionally created physical work are not accepted. Giclée prints are allowed only for artwork originally created digitally. Work created entirely or partly with artificial intelligence is prohibited. Artwork must be original, may not reproduce copyrighted or trademarked material, and must be suitable for a public community space. Accepted work must be delivered ready to hang with secure hardware; D-rings and wire are strongly preferred, and sawtooth hangers should not be used. ShenArts disclaims responsibility for damage or breakage.
