Residency Programs
Artist Residency — July–December 2027
Nebraska City, NE
The opportunity
Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts offers juried, self-directed residencies lasting two to eight weeks during its July 12–December 17, 2027 session. Residents receive a private bedroom and bathroom, private studio, and a $175 weekly stipend. The program accepts visual artists, writers, composers, and interdisciplinary artists from the United States and abroad.
Requirements
Applicants are selected through a blind external jury reviewing anonymous work samples and two anonymous statements: a statement of submitted works and a statement of intent. Names, credits, awards, universities, employers, and gallery names must be removed from every file. The page specifies 1–10 images. Visual work may include photography, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, mixed media, video, performance, drawing, textiles, and other visual art, although KHN does not have facilities specific to every process. Some transitional residencies are reserved for artists described as being within two years of the application deadline, and some places are reserved for Nebraska artists. The $35 fee cannot be waived. Applicants pay their own travel costs, except that the Kimmel Foundation pays $100 cab fare from Omaha or Lincoln upon arrival and departure. The application portal opens November 1, 2026.
