Art + Transit 2026: Artistic Bus Ceiling Design

The Town of Chapel Hill seeks Triangle-based artists and artist teams to create original two-dimensional artwork for Chapel Hill Transit bus ceilings. Three selected artists or teams will each create one final design, printed three times and installed by a Town contractor on three buses for display lasting at least 12 months. Up to six finalists will each receive a $100 proposal stipend.
Requirements
Applicants must be age 18 or older, live within 40 miles of Chapel Hill, and not have received a Town of Chapel Hill artistic bus-ceiling commission within the past two years. Submit four relevant work images as separate JPG files, an image list as DOCX or PDF, and an art resume of no more than two pages in one ZIP file. Selected artists must deliver the final approximately 21-foot design as an AI or EPS file meeting the required specifications.
