Art on the Street 2027 - Call for Outdoor Sculptures

Lafayette's Art on the Street sculpture-on-loan program invites outdoor sculptures for a one-year display in downtown Lafayette, Colorado. Selected artists receive a $1,200 honorarium. Each sculpture is featured on its own web page, with brochures printed in English and Spanish.

Sculptures must be suitable for outdoor display and loaned for one full year. Submit an application form and artwork/portfolio, with only one sculpture per application and 3–6 photos of that sculpture. Photos from different sides and up close are encouraged. Artists may submit up to three applications for three sculptures. Artists must supervise and assist the installation crew, which installs works on steel pedestals or concrete pads with steel inserts. Installation is scheduled for April 19–22, 2027, with rain/snow alternate dates the following week. The program provides welding equipment, power drills, lifts, hardware, tools, and installation resources; staff and crew work with artists to choose the orientation for public viewing. The Public Art Committee selects works in November 2026, and artists are notified in December 2026. Uninstallation is scheduled for April 2028. The reception and awards ceremony is tentatively October 16, 2027. Three additional prizes are awarded each year: the $1,000 Jean Mellblom Award for Artistic Excellence, the $500 People's Choice Award, and the $500 Most Inspiring! Award. There are no application, participation, or additional fees.
