New York, NY

AFT Curated

The opportunity

apexart invites original, idea-driven group exhibition proposals for its 2027–28 NYC exhibition programming. Artists, curators, writers, and other creative individuals anywhere may apply, regardless of experience. Proposals are evaluated through an international crowdsourced online jury. Selected exhibitions receive funding and staff support, with a $10,000 budget including up to a $2,000 curator/organizer honorarium. These exhibitions are part of apexart's programming, not grants.

Requirements

Anyone from anywhere may submit, regardless of experience level, background, or location, including trained and student curators, artists, writers, and other creative individuals. Submit a 500-word proposal through the submission forms when live, describing a focused, idea-driven, original group exhibition. Proposals must not contain URLs, CV information, images, or information that could identify the proposal writer. There are no application, participation, or additional fees. The curator/organizer must work within apexart's budget: $8,000 covers curator travel, artwork shipping, artist and public-program participant honorariums, equipment, and installation; of the $10,000 total, the curator/organizer receives up to a $2,000 honorarium for coordinating the project and writing the exhibition brochure essay. apexart covers approved insurance, advertising, publicity, NYC exhibition documentation, exhibition brochure design, printing and mailing, and the local opening reception, and oversees most logistics, including loan agreements and shipping. Listed artistic fields include applied arts, architecture, curating, design, drawing, education, fashion, film, installation, interdisciplinary work, painting, performance, photography, printmaking, sculpture, social practice, sound art, textiles, video, visual arts, and writing.
