Anthology Personal Memoir Competition

An international personal memoir competition for original, previously unpublished English-language accounts of a unique life experience, with no restrictions on themes or writing styles. The winner receives €500 and the chance to be published in a future issue of Anthology. Reedsy Learning also offers prizes for the winner and shortlisted writers.

Open to writers of any nationality living anywhere in the world, with no age limit. Submit an original, non-fictional, unpublished personal memoir in English, maximum 1,500 words. Adapted, revised or otherwise reworked versions of previously published material are ineligible. Generative AI is not permitted. Unlimited entries are allowed, but each requires a separate entry form and fee. Complete the online form, upload the entry and complete payment before submitting. Early bird fee: €12, 16 September 2026–31 January 2027. Standard fee: €15, 1 February–30 August 2027. Contact admin@anthology-magazine.com for group entry fees. Entry fees are non-refundable. Files must be PDF or Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx), using Arial or Times New Roman, 12pt, with 1.5 or double spacing. Do not include a cover/title page. Put the story title at the top of the first page and the word count at the top right. Do not include your name in the document, filename or story body. Formatting guidelines must be followed to avoid disqualification. Entries are judged on emotional impact, creativity and ability to captivate the reader. Copyright remains with the author, but Anthology reserves the right to first publish or arrange a broadcast of selected works. The winner and finalists grant Anthology the right to use their articles electronically or in print to promote Anthology and its Awards without restriction in any media. Submission implies acceptance of the rules. The winner receives €500, paid on publication of the winning article in Anthology magazine, and a one-year Reedsy Learning membership including all masterclasses and conferences. Shortlisted writers receive one live craft masterclass of choice; all entrants receive an exclusive 10% membership discount. Reading or purchasing Anthology before entering is advisable but not required.
