AGENCY NYC Residency — Spring 2027

Eyebeam's AGENCY NYC Residency selects six artists living in New York City's five boroughs for a 12-week onsite residency exploring agency, power, autonomy, technological systems, collective action, and human and nonhuman relationships. Each artist receives a $5,000 stipend, weekly programming, mentorship, technical consultation, and work-in-progress critiques. The track is intended for projects with a clearer direction that can benefit from dedicated studio time and production support. Eligible practices include visual, new media, digital, interactive, experimental, social-practice, research-based, AI-related, interdisciplinary, and other technology-engaged art.

Applicants must apply individually; collectives and collaborative teams are not eligible. Applicants must live within New York City's five boroughs and be able to work onsite at Eyebeam for at least one day per week throughout the residency. Applicants may not currently be enrolled in a full-time degree program or committed to another residency during the relevant residency period. AI expertise and coding experience are not required, and projects need not work with AI specifically. Applications must be submitted online through Submittable. Entry is free. The 12-week residency requires a minimum of 8 hours per week onsite at Eyebeam, in addition to independent project development. Programming includes weekly programming and peer sessions, mentorship and technical consultation, work-in-progress critiques, a public open studio, a concluding process presentation, and a contribution to an end-of-year publication. Six artists receive a $5,000 stipend per artist. Interviews are December 7–10, 2026, and notifications are December 14, 2026.
