Adhesive Resistance - Virtual Exhibition
Hosted by Woman Made Gallery
Remote
The opportunity
A virtual exhibition juried by Courtney Nzeribe, inviting women and nonbinary artists to submit printed matter, stickers, zines, pins, buttons, and other small-format work exploring experimentation, cultural commentary, humor, urgency, and DIY publishing. The exhibition will be hosted on the Woman Made Gallery website and promoted on social media from February 27 through March 27, 2027. Selected Chicagoland artists may also participate in an optional in-person pop-up print fair and propose workshops or demos, which will be paid if accepted.
About this call
Experimentation, cultural commentary, humor, urgency, and the democratic spirit of DIY publishing.
Requirements
Open to women and nonbinary artists. Eligible forms include all printed matter, stickers, zines, pins, buttons, etc.; sticker designs may be submitted individually or as sheets. Submit 1–3 pieces; maximum 2 entries per artist. Accepted file types: JPG, MOV, MP4, PNG; maximum file size: 50MB per image. All work must address the exhibition theme, and a brief artist statement is required. Work must be original and created by the submitting artist. Collaborative works are accepted if all artists meet eligibility criteria and are properly credited. AI tools may be used for research or inspiration, but work must not be primarily AI-generated; AI-generated images, text, or objects with minimal human intervention are not accepted. Artwork previously exhibited at Woman Made Gallery is ineligible for resubmission. The standard entry fee is $20; reduced fees and waivers are available based on need. The source states that 30 are exclusively reserved for ALAANA/BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ applicants. Approval factors include financial instability or low income, student or recent graduate status, identification as ALAANA/BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+, or otherwise demonstrated need. Request assistance at general@womanmade.org with the subject "Fee Waiver Request - Adhesive Resistance"; the team will approve and send discount or waiver links within 2 days of the request. Work may be offered for sale or marked Not for Sale (NFS); the gallery directs potential buyers to the artist's supplied contact information. Selected local/Chicagoland artists may optionally participate in an in-person pop-up print fair with artist-delivered stickers, zines, prints, and other small-format multiples; participation does not affect virtual-exhibition selection. Accepted local artists may propose workshops or demos for in-gallery programming; these are paid only if accepted. Exhibition terms will be distributed to accepted artists for agreement and may cover schedule, insurance disclaimers, sales and commissions, reproduction of digital files and images, and website and publicity requirements. The stated application cutoff is December 31, 2026 at 11:00 PM CST.
