About this call
Original impressionistic paintings
Requirements
Applicants must be current or new paid AIS members and legal U.S. residents. The $65 2026 membership dues must be paid before entry; unpaid dues by the deadline result in disqualification. Artists may submit up to five paintings, with at most one accepted. Eligible media are oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, casein, egg tempera, oil sticks, and gouache; mixed media, photography, digital or AI work, reproductions, digitally manipulated work, painted giclée prints, and manipulated or painted-over photos are prohibited. Work must be original in concept and execution, impressionistic, completed within the last three years, not made in a class or under an instructor, and must not violate copyright. Reference photographs must be the artist’s own. Diptychs, triptychs, and multi-surface works are not permitted. Entries may not have appeared in a previous AIS show, although previously rejected work may be resubmitted if otherwise eligible. There is no size limit or shipping requirement. Images must be original JPEG/JPG files using sRGB for best results, at least 1,500 pixels on the longest edge and no larger than 30 MB, cropped to show only the artwork without mat, frame, or background. The nonrefundable fee is tiered: $20 for one painting, $30 for two, $40 for three, $50 for four, or $60 for five. Artists retain copyright but authorize AIS to use submitted images for publicity, future event promotion, and archival purposes. Artists retain 100% of sales; AIS does not process sales or arrange buyer shipping. A withdrawal after acceptance makes the artist ineligible for AIS exhibitions for the following two years. Entries and payment are due by midnight Pacific time on October 20, 2026, and incomplete or late entries are disqualified.
