2027 Artist Residency

West Windsor Township, NJ

AFT Curated Open to all media

The opportunity

The Gallery at Mercer County Community College offers four three-week residencies in spring 2027 for exhibition or performance-based projects. Residents share the gallery with another resident, collaborate with students and staff, and conduct workshops. Two places are designated for Mercer County artists and two for artists residing outside the county. All media are welcome. Artists receive a $350 stipend upon successful completion.

Requirements

Four three-week residencies are offered in spring 2027: Term A, January 25–February 12; Term B, February 22–March 12. Two residencies are designated for Mercer County artists and two for artists residing outside the county. Artists of all backgrounds and experience are encouraged to apply. Submit application forms, a portfolio of at least 5 and at most 10 images, an artist resume with current address, an artist statement, and a project proposal specific to the gallery space; dimensions and photos are available online for reference. The proposal must clearly outline student engagement through collaboration and workshops. Applications are reviewed for artistic merit, project feasibility, and potential for student engagement. Residents must collaborate with MCCC students and staff on their project and conduct workshops in the main gallery. Each resident is assigned one of two gallery side spaces for an exhibition or performance-based project, alongside another resident. Spaces are primarily exhibition spaces, not studios, and facilities are limited. Artists must transport their artwork and materials to and from the gallery; shipping costs are not covered. Artists must return the gallery space to its original condition. A $350 stipend is paid upon successful completion. The application fee is $35; there is no participation fee and no additional fee. Proposals are welcome in all media, including painting, sculpture, installation, performance, photography, and video. Listed artistic fields also include applied arts, architecture, dance, design, digital, drawing, education, fashion, film, interdisciplinary work, printmaking, public art, research, social practice, sound art, textiles, visual arts, and writing.
