The opportunity

Charleston Artist Guild's juried exhibition for Exhibiting Status 2025–2026 members features original painting and photography. The show runs online November 1–7, 2026, with an in-person reception and artwork display at Hobcaw Brewery in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, on November 7. All work must be for sale. Painting, photography, and honorable mention awards are offered.

Requirements

Open only to Exhibiting Status 2025–2026 CAG members. Submit original painting or photography completed within the past two years; workshop or class-produced art is ineligible. Work must be solely the artist's original creation, not copied in whole or part from another person's work or photograph, not created under instructor supervision, and not previously displayed at a CAG show. 3D, sculpture, fiber art, crafts, and other decorative arts are excluded. Computer-generated or other electronically generated work and AI-enhanced or AI-created art and photography are prohibited. Photographs must be original. Photographic images may be displayed on professional papers, canvas, metal, wood, or acrylic and must be printed to industry standards. Permitted photographic adjustments include cropping, rotation, selective dodge and burn, noise reduction, sharpening, color/black-and-white adjustments, grain, and basic retouching. Photo stitching, focus stacking, and multi-exposure are allowed only for a consecutive sequence shot at the same time and place, seconds or minutes apart. Adding or moving elements using cloning, healing, patching, content-aware fill, liquefy, or similar tools is prohibited.

Entry costs $40 for one work plus $10 for each additional work, maximum four works per artist. A diptych counts as two pieces. Fees are nonrefundable, including for rejected work, and must be paid by credit or debit card by the deadline. Incomplete entries are disqualified. Framed dimensions must be at least 8 inches wide by 10 inches high and no more than 38 inches wide by 48 inches high; oversized work will be disqualified. List framed sizes to the nearest inch.

Upload through ShowSubmit original, high-quality JPEG/JPG files; PNG and TIFF are not accepted. Images must show only the artwork, professionally cropped, right side up, sharp, and without visible frame, mat, glass, or background. Images must be at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge and no larger than 30 MB; smaller images cannot be enlarged to satisfy requirements. sRGB is recommended. Files are automatically resized when necessary and renamed; applicants need not rename files. The exhibition rules state that entries, titles, and dimensions cannot be changed and accepted works cannot be substituted. Separately, the additional entry information says paid applicants may edit artist and image information and add or substitute images until October 23, 2026; no changes or entries are accepted after the deadline.

Works must be wired to gallery standards and meet the CAG Show Committee's professional presentation standards. Paintings must be framed unless on gallery-wrapped canvas. Accepted works must remain available for the show's duration. Artwork drop-off and hanging are November 7, 2026, from 5–6pm at Hobcaw Brewery, 496 Long Point Rd, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. The reception is 6–8pm, with awards at 7pm; attendees are asked to bring a potluck dish. Artists must remove artwork by the end of the show on November 7; CAG is not responsible for artwork afterward.

All work must be for sale and artists must agree to the CAG Special Events Contract - Conditional Sales Agreement. Upon sale, the Guild pays the artist the listed price less a 10% donation to the Guild. Sold artwork is packed and shipped through QuickMail; buyers pay regular QuickMail shipping prices, which include insurance. Painting awards: first place $500, second $300, third $175. Photography awards: first place $300, second $175, third $125. Six honorable mentions receive $50 each. Results will be posted in ShowSubmit accounts by the end of October 26, 2026, with email notification.
