11th Open International Exhibition

A juried in-person exhibition and sale organized by the Arizona Pastel Artists Association at the Phippen Museum of Western Art in Prescott, Arizona. The exhibition will display 80 pastel paintings. Approximately $10,000 in conditional awards and prizes is planned, including a $1,000 Best in Show Award; these awards are not guaranteed participant compensation.

Open to all pastel artists. Entries must be original pastel paintings completed in 2024–2026 and not previously shown in an APAA exhibition; previously entered but unaccepted work may be resubmitted if otherwise eligible. Work must be the artist's original concept and design. Any source photograph must have been taken by the artist and must be provided if originality is questioned. Work copied from published or internet images is ineligible, as is work made under supervision, mentorship, classes, workshops, online instruction, step-by-step instruction, DVDs, or other instruction. Artwork must have at least 85% dry pastel as its final layer; underpainting is permitted, but oil pastel is not. All paintings must be for sale, with proceeds divided 60% to the artist, 30% to the Phippen Museum, and 10% to APAA; no NFS or POR entries are allowed. Prices must match the artist's website, gallery, and other platforms and cannot be changed after submission. Entry fees are tiered: APAA members pay $45 for three entries and non-members pay $55 for three entries; fees are non-refundable. No more than one painting per artist will be accepted. Acceptance grants APAA and the Phippen permission to reproduce images for marketing, publicity, and future APAA event promotions, while the artist retains copyright. Accepted work must be identical to the submitted image and may not be substituted, copied, adjusted, repaired, or otherwise modified. Shipped paintings incur a separate $25 invoice. Accepted work must be gallery-quality framed, wired, and ready to hang; metal frames, gallery-wrap canvases, and sawtooth hangers are prohibited. Hand-delivered or transported paintings must be fully enclosed in a zipped portfolio with a handle and label. Applicants must submit high-quality JPEG/JPG images, preferably using sRGB, cropped to show only the artwork, at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge and no larger than 30 MB. Entries must be complete, submitted, and paid by the deadline.
